HOW TO USE IT

A small plan.
Ready to talk through.

  1. Add their birth date

Choose your country in the top navigation, then enter the date your puppy was born.

  2. Tell us what's already done

Select none, one or two core viral doses from their vaccination record.

  3. Create and keep the plan

Choose Create puppy vaccination schedule. Save a separate copy to Saved in the top navigation, print a card or add reminders after confirming dates with your vet.

HOW IT WORKS

How the calendar
works out the dates.

Each planned age is added to the birth date in whole weeks. Eight weeks means 56 calendar days. The planner skips the core doses you mark as already given.

An overdue dose keeps its original date and shows as soon as possible. It does not prescribe a catch-up course. Calendar exports move overdue reminders to today and keep the original date in the notes.

The 8, 12 and 16 week dates are an example of the core viral series within WSAVA guidance. The last dose should be at 16 weeks or later; higher-risk puppies may need later doses. Leptospirosis is also core in the UK but has a separate course and history. Confirm actual dates and licensed instructions with your vet.

WSAVA advises antibody testing at least 4 weeks after the actual final puppy viral dose, or an additional viral vaccination at or shortly after 26 weeks of age. If testing confirms protection, the 26-week vaccination is not needed. This date is a vet review, not a confirmed vaccination appointment. BSAVA supports licensed instructions and individual risk assessment. This review does not schedule leptospirosis or travel rabies boosters.

Reported doses must fit the age bounds of the linked routine guidance. Earlier or specialist courses need an individual plan from your vet. Each calendar download creates separate events, including repeat downloads of a saved plan. Remove an older import before replacing it.

FAQ

Questions before
the next vet visit?

Bring your questions and this plan to your vet.

When does a puppy get its first vaccination?

The linked guidance allows the core viral series to start at 6 to 8 weeks. This planner uses 8 weeks as a planning example. Your vet chooses the actual timing.

How many puppy vaccinations are needed?

The three viral dates are an example, not a complete course. BSAVA also lists leptospirosis as core in the UK. Its first dose is planned at the 8-week visit, subject to licensed instructions. The second dose follows 2 to 4 weeks after the actual first dose; viral-dose counts do not record it. Confirm the course and later viral review with your vet.

When can a puppy go outside or meet other dogs?

Ask your vet about safe social contact and local disease risk. The date of a planned final dose alone does not establish protection or permission to visit public places.

Is rabies vaccination required where I live?

For EU pet travel, GOV.UK requires rabies vaccination at 12 weeks or older, a microchip fitted before or at vaccination, and at least 21 full days after the initial course before travel. Some vaccinations need a longer wait. Check your destination and return rules with your vet. This UK planner does not schedule travel rabies vaccination.

What if a dose is overdue?

The original date stays visible and is marked as soon as possible. Contact your vet to arrange a catch-up plan. Several overdue reminders do not mean several doses should be given together.

Are these dates a vaccination record?

No. This is a planning card for United Kingdom. Keep your vet's actual vaccination record. The 26-week date is a review, not a confirmed vaccination appointment. Antibody testing after the actual final viral dose may show that another vaccination is unnecessary. Your vet chooses the approach using the licensed instructions.

Page 14: antibody testing after the final puppy viral dose or vaccination at about 26 weeks; a positive protection result can avoid that vaccination. Page 11 describes routine core viral doses from six to eight weeks, at intervals of two to four weeks. The six-week start and two-week lower interval are used only to flag inconsistent histories; earlier specialist courses need an individual plan.
