Kittens start at two weeks and repeat every two weeks until regular broad-spectrum parasite control begins. Year-round ongoing control is recommended. The separate fallback when year-round control cannot be maintained includes monthly treatment through six months; this is not a fixed universal timetable.

Start with your details
Choose country and birth date
Choose your country in the navigation, then enter the birth date using the date picker. This worldwide tool stays on one URL. The UK uses ESCCAP; the US uses CAPC. Australia and Canada use the US-based default, which your local vet should confirm.
Add UK weaning details
For UK guidance, choose whether weaning is finished, ongoing or unknown. If finished, enter the actual completion date. If ongoing, creating the plan records the device date as your confirmation. No default weaning age is assumed.
Read the early checkpoints
Create the schedule and discuss it with your vet. Past dates remain historical dates. Regular prevention can replace early stand-alone treatments; do not add doses on top of an established plan. Monthly care appears as guidance without calculated dates.
Keep a copy
Save a separate copy on this device, print the card or download early checkpoints as an all-day calendar file. Open and delete copies from Saved in the navigation. Calendar files contain no monthly repeating reminders.
What shapes your result
Date at week N = birth date plus N times seven days. Calendar arithmetic uses whole dates, so daylight saving and time zones do not shift checkpoints. Dates are calculated on your device; no details are sent to a server.
CAPC starts kittens at two weeks, repeating every two weeks until regular parasite control begins. Its feline hookworm guidance lists two, four, six and eight weeks. This tool displays those conditional early planning checkpoints; the treatment label and your vet determine when regular prevention replaces them. Australia and Canada use this US-based default here, rather than a local national standard. Confirm local suitability with your vet.
The UK follows ESCCAP's detailed roundworm guidance and UK FAQ: start at three weeks, repeat fortnightly until two weeks after weaning. With a known completion date, only checkpoints on or before that boundary are listed. The final interval and transition need your vet's advice. The condensed ESCCAP table uses shorter wording; the detailed guidance supplies the post-weaning period used here.
For ongoing UK weaning, the list extends only fourteen days beyond the date you confirmed that status. This remains within the supported fortnightly phase even if weaning finishes immediately afterward. A saved copy keeps that confirmation date instead of extending itself. Unknown weaning details produce only the initial three-week checkpoint. This early-life planning view never extends beyond the first six calendar months; that display limit is not an instruction to stop care.
Monthly care is guidance only. ESCCAP makes it conditional on ongoing infection risk through six months. CAPC recommends year-round control and describes a separate alternative when year-round control cannot be maintained. No fixed four-week series, monthly dates, guessed prevention start or catch-up doses are calculated. Later care remains as your vet advises.
Changing the navigation country clears the old result; create the plan again for that guidance. Opening a saved copy restores its country and original weaning details. Editing clears its saved reference and shows an Inputs changed notice. The previous result stays visible until you choose Create again. Saving does not record treatments as given, and downloading a replacement calendar does not remove an earlier import from your calendar app.

Bring your questions and this plan to your vet.
When should a kitten first be wormed?
CAPC starts at two weeks; ESCCAP's UK guidance starts at three weeks. Use the country selector to see the relevant planning model. Australia and Canada use the US-based default here, so confirm local suitability with your vet and the treatment label.
Why does the UK plan ask about weaning?
The detailed ESCCAP guidance continues fortnightly care until two weeks after weaning. A fixed ninth-week cutoff would assume when weaning happened. Enter the actual completion date, confirm that weaning is still ongoing or choose Not sure for a limited plan.
Should I give every treatment shown if prevention has already started?
No. These are early planning checkpoints, not additional doses. Regular label-approved parasite prevention can replace later stand-alone treatments. Ask your vet how the early plan fits care already given; the tool does not calculate catch-up doses or treatment amounts.
Why are monthly dates missing?
Monthly care depends on the prevention plan, treatment label and infection risk. It is shown as guidance only, without calculated reminders. CAPC recommends year-round control; ESCCAP gives risk-based guidance. Continuing care remains as your vet advises, including after six months.
What if a date has passed or weaning is not finished?
Past dates are labelled historical planning dates, never moved to today. Ask your vet about missed care. For ongoing UK weaning, the plan only extends fourteen days from your confirmation and keeps that date when saved. Create it again with current details when the plan needs updating.
Can I save, print or add the dates to a calendar?
Yes. Save keeps separate copies in this browser, including the country and weaning confirmation. Open or delete copies from Saved. Print includes the plan and vet note; your browser can save a PDF. Calendar download includes early all-day checkpoints only, with monthly care in the notes and no repeating monthly events. Remove an earlier import yourself before replacing it.

The feline prevention section lists early kitten ages 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks. Regular monthly prevention can start as soon as its label allows and may replace later stand-alone early treatments. These ages are conditional planning checkpoints, not extra doses after regular prevention or a catch-up prescription.
Seventh edition, June 2025, current Ed7v3 download. Detailed roundworm guidance on printed page 13 starts kittens at three weeks and repeats fortnightly until two weeks after weaning. Monthly treatment to six months is conditional on ongoing increased infection risk. The condensed page 10 table shortens the wording to until weaning; the detailed section and UK FAQ provide the transition used here.
The kitten answer starts at three weeks and follows fortnightly treatment until two weeks after weaning, then monthly care to six months. The current full guideline qualifies monthly care by infection risk; discuss an individual plan with your vet.
