Injected core viral vaccines start no earlier than 6 weeks, repeated every 3 to 4 weeks through 16 to 20 weeks. Consider revaccination at 6 months of age. Rabies follows licensed instructions and local law; feline leukemia is also core for cats younger than one year.

Start with your details
Enter their birth date
Use your kitten's record. If the date is unknown, ask your vet for an estimate before using this planner.
Count core viral visits
Choose 0 to 3 doses for the combined core viral course. Do not count each disease separately, rabies or feline leukemia. Select your country in the top navigation.
Create and confirm the plan
Compare the planning dates with your vet's record. Save separate copies on this device, print the card or download the calendar. Delete copies from Saved in the navigation.
What shapes your result
The specification uses 8, 12 and 16 weeks as planning checkpoints within official guidance ranges. These are not the only possible vaccination ages.
Week N means birth date plus N times 7 days. The three checkpoints are 8, 12 and 16 weeks, with four weeks between them. Dates use UTC calendar arithmetic so daylight saving does not shift a day.
Doses already given remove the first checkpoints without shifting the remaining dates. Actual administration dates are not collected. A late start, uncertain history or different course needs a plan from your vet; this tool does not calculate catch-up treatment.
Reported core-dose counts are checked against a conservative lower age limit: a first dose from six weeks and at least two weeks between recorded doses, using WSAVA's broad guidance. This catches histories that do not fit this planner; it does not recommend a two-week course or confirm protection. For earlier or different protocols, ask your vet to interpret the actual record.
AAHA/AAFP recommends considering core viral revaccination at 6 months of age. This is a vet review reminder, not an automatic appointment or a rabies booster date.
The review uses six calendar months from birth, clamped to the last valid day for a shorter month. It is not one year after the last planned dose.
Ask your vet for the rabies date required by your state and local law and the licensed vaccine instructions. No nationwide due date can be calculated from a country alone.
Feline leukemia vaccination is also core for kittens under AAHA/AAFP guidance. Ask your vet about testing and a separate course; it is not included in the dose count or dated reminders here.
Past dates remain visible and keep their original dates in calendar downloads. The plan stays on this device, with no account or server storage.

the next vet visit?
Bring your questions and this plan to your vet.
When does a kitten get its first vaccination?
This planner starts at eight weeks. Official guidance allows an earlier start for some kittens, with repeat doses through at least 16 weeks. Your vet chooses the course for the kitten and vaccine used.
How many kitten vaccinations are needed?
The planner shows three core viral checkpoints at 8, 12 and 16 weeks. These are a planning example, not a complete course for every kitten. Your vet may add doses or recommend other vaccines.
Which doses should be counted as already given?
Count recorded visits for the combined panleukopenia, herpesvirus and calicivirus course. Do not count each disease separately, rabies or feline leukemia. If the record is unclear or the course started late, ask your vet.
When is the first core booster review?
AAHA/AAFP recommends considering core viral revaccination at 6 months of age. This is a vet review reminder, not an automatic appointment or a rabies booster date.
Does this include rabies vaccination?
Ask your vet for the rabies date required by your state and local law and the licensed vaccine instructions. No nationwide due date can be calculated from a country alone.
What if a planned date has passed?
Ask your vet for a catch-up plan using the actual vaccination record. Past dates are labelled and remain on their original dates in the calendar. Save keeps separate device copies; print and calendar export do not confirm a dose was given.

Feline guidance and Table 2, pages 16 to 18: repeat core doses through at least 16 weeks; some kittens need a longer course. Consider revaccination at 26 weeks or older. Rabies depends on local regulations and licensed instructions; feline leukemia depends on age, exposure and local prevalence. The feline guidance summary permits a first dose at 6 to 8 weeks and repeats every 2 to 4 weeks. Those earliest ages support the conservative history check, not a recommended two-week course.
