Health and vet care
Your puppy's first vet visit: questions to ask
Arrange the puppy's first examination promptly and bring the available vaccination and parasite-care records. The planner helps collect selected questions and gives a homecoming-plus-seven-day planning reminder. That reminder is not the recommended day to wait for an examination or a booked appointment.

What should be arranged before the visit?
AVMA recommends an examination as soon as possible after acquiring the dog. Contact a practice, explain the homecoming and any concerns, and follow its advice about timing.
Bring the written health records even if they are incomplete. Do not guess a vaccination visit count to make the summary look complete; Not sure is a valid choice.
Which topics can the question list cover?
The six optional topics are vaccination records and next steps, parasite prevention, feeding and growth, suitable introductions and training, neutering, and comfortable grooming or handling. Choose the questions that fit your situation.
None are selected initially. The result, print and calendar description contain only the questions picked, so the tool is a preparation aid rather than an exhaustive examination checklist.

What does reported vaccination history mean here?
The choices are none, one, two, three or more visits, or Not sure. This is a summary of reported puppy vaccination visits, not a calculation of which vaccine is due or evidence of protection.
The vaccination tool has its own country-specific context. Discuss actual records and licensed instructions at the practice rather than inferring them from this question planner.
What does the seven-day reminder calculate?
Homecoming 1 November 2026 gives a planning reminder on 8 November. For the example below, choose the vaccination and feeding topics to produce two questions. Save, print and one calendar event preserve the chosen list. No share link is supplied.
