HOW IT WORKS

How the calendar
works out the dates.

Each planned age is added to the birth date in whole weeks. Eight weeks means 56 calendar days. The planner skips the core doses you mark as already given.

An overdue dose keeps its original date and shows as soon as possible. It does not prescribe a catch-up course. Calendar exports move overdue reminders to today and keep the original date in the notes.

The 8, 12 and 16 week visits are an example within AVA guidance. The final puppy dose is not before 16 weeks. Your vet confirms the course using individual risk and licensed instructions.

Planning date: one year after the planned final puppy dose. AVA describes the traditional booster at about 12 months after that course and an earlier option from 6 months of age. Your vet chooses the actual timing.

Reported doses must fit the age bounds of the linked routine guidance. Earlier or specialist courses need an individual plan from your vet. Each calendar download creates separate events, including repeat downloads of a saved plan. Remove an older import before replacing it.

FAQ

Questions before
the next vet visit?

Bring your questions and this plan to your vet.

When does a puppy get its first vaccination?

The linked guidance allows the core viral series to start at 6 to 8 weeks. This planner uses 8 weeks as a planning example. Your vet chooses the actual timing.

How many puppy vaccinations are needed?

This example shows three viral visits for distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus. AVA classifies parainfluenza and leptospirosis as non-core; your vet may recommend them for individual risk. These separate courses are not scheduled here.

When can a puppy go outside or meet other dogs?

Ask your vet about safe social contact and local disease risk. The date of a planned final dose alone does not establish protection or permission to visit public places.

Is rabies vaccination required where I live?

DAFF confirms Australia remains free of rabies. This routine planner has no rabies window. Ask your vet to confirm any overseas travel or import requirements.

What if a dose is overdue?

The original date stays visible and is marked as soon as possible. Contact your vet to arrange a catch-up plan. Several overdue reminders do not mean several doses should be given together.

Are these dates a vaccination record?

No. This is a planning card for Australia. Keep the actual vaccination record supplied by your vet. The first booster date is a planning date. Your vet may advise a different time.

  1. Table 1: core viral diseases are distemper, adenovirus and parvovirus. Parainfluenza and leptospirosis are non-core in this policy. Puppy timing and both booster approaches are described in the guidelines. Routine-history validation uses the six-week start and two-week lower interval from the general puppy guidance. The policy separately allows earlier vaccination in high-risk shelters; those histories need an individual plan.
